BIRTH OF A ELECTRICAL GENIUS:

Nikola Tesla was a Serbian-American inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, and futurist. He is best recognised for his contributions to the creation of the contemporary alternating current (AC) energy delivery system.

EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION:

On July 10, 1856, Nikola Tesla was born in Smiljan, Croatia, which at the time belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. His mother, Djuka Mandic, was a stay-at-home mom, while his father, Milutin Tesla, was an Orthodox priest. Tesla had four siblings—one brother and three sisters.

Early schooling was provided by Tesla's father at home, and he subsequently went to elementary school in Karlstadt (now Karlovac), Croatia. He was an unusually gifted student who showed aptitude in science and maths from an early age. In addition to studying math and physics, Tesla subsequently attended high school in Rakovac (now Senj), Croatia, where he also studied French, German, and Italian.

Tesla enrolled in the Austrian Polytechnic in Graz, Austria, in 1875 and studied mechanics, physics, and mathematics there. Tesla suffered financially and was forced to rely on scholarships and part-time jobs to sustain himself, despite having the best marks in his class and achieving academic excellence.

After finishing his coursework at the polytechnic, Tesla spent a short time working as a telegraph engineer's assistant before deciding to accept a position as an electrician with a telephone firm in Budapest, Hungary. Tesla started experimenting with electrical currents when he was working in Budapest and became interested in the developing discipline of electrical engineering.

Tesla relocated to Paris, France, in 1882 and started working for the Continental Edison Company, a division of Thomas Edison's American business. Tesla was given the responsibility of creating and enhancing the company's electrical machinery, and he rapidly developed a reputation as a knowledgeable and creative engineer.

After immigrating to the US, Tesla started working for Thomas Edison in New York City in 1884. The direct current (DC) generators used in Edison's power plants were being improved by Tesla while he was still employed by Edison. Tesla finally left Edison's firm to work on his own projects after a disagreement with the latter over the use of AC (alternating current) against DC for the transmission of electrical power.

CAREER OF NIKOLA TESLA:

Tesla started working on his own creations after leaving Edison's business, such as the Tesla coil, which he utilised to establish his theories of wireless communication and free energy. High-voltage, low-current, high-frequency alternating current power is produced via resonant transformer circuits, such as the Tesla coil. Tesla himself utilised this apparatus to test the feasibility of wireless energy transfer, and it played a significant role in the advancement of radio communication.

Tesla also contributed to the advancement of remote control, radar, and X-ray technologies. He created the Tesla turbine, a bladeless turbine that effectively captures energy from a fluid flow using the boundary layer phenomenon. Additionally, he created an AC current motor that was more effective and adaptable than the DC motors that were widely utilised at the time.

The work Tesla did to create the present alternating current (AC) energy delivery system, however, was his most important contribution to engineering. In order to be used in residences and commercial buildings, high-voltage transmission cables that carry AC power over long distances are first stepped down to lower voltages at power plants. This method revolutionised how power is transferred and utilised around the world since it is far more effective and flexible than the DC electricity delivery system that was in use at the time.

Tesla experienced financial hardship throughout of his life, despite his great achievements. Due to his lack of business savvy, he repeatedly let investors and rivals take advantage of him while investing his own money in his initiatives. On January 7, 1943, in New York City, at the age of 86, Tesla passed away. In his later years, he grew more erratic and withdrawn.

The modern world has benefited significantly from Tesla's contributions to science and engineering. He pioneered the development of the contemporary electrical power grid through his work on AC energy supply systems, which has enabled everyone in the globe to have access to safe and economical electricity. Modern technologies like radar, wireless communication, and remote control are all products of Tesla's innovations. Tesla is regarded as one of history's greatest inventors today, and his work inspires engineers and scientists all across the world.

LEGACY OF NIKOLA TESLA:

His various creations and advancements in the disciplines of radio communication, physics, and electrical engineering are examples of Nikola Tesla's legacy. Here are some specifics regarding his legacy:

1- Alternating current (AC) power system : One of Tesla's most significant contributions to engineering is his work on the design of the AC power system. The manner that energy is transferred and utilised globally has been revolutionised by the AC power system. Large-scale power plants that can supply energy to whole cities can be built thanks to the fact that AC power is more efficient, adaptable, and able to travel over vast distances.

2- Tesla coil : One of the most well-known innovations of Tesla is the Tesla coil. It is a transformer that produces high-frequency, low-current electricity at a high voltage. Modern technologies like radio transmission, television, and wireless charging all make use of the Tesla coil.

3- Wireless communications : Modern wireless communication technologies were built on the work of Tesla in the field of radio communication. He carried out tests at the beginning of the 20th century that proved it was possible to send and receive radio signals across large distances. Radio, television, and mobile phones all got their start thanks to his research on wireless communication.

3- Remote control : Tesla also created a remote control gadget that operated a watercraft using radio waves. He invented the first remote control technology that led to the creation of contemporary remote controls.

4-
Tesla turbines : The Tesla turbine is a bladeless turbine that employs the boundary layer phenomenon to capture energy from a fluid flow. The Tesla turbine is more effective than conventional turbine designs and has been utilised for anything from power generation to ship propulsion.

5-
The X-ray imaging :
The basis for the advancement of X-ray imaging technology was built by Tesla's X-ray experiments. He was one of the pioneering researchers who used X-rays, and his work on X-ray imaging helped to pave the way for the creation of medical X-ray technology.

Tesla suffered financially and was frequently exploited by investors and rivals despite his numerous achievements to science and engineering. The globe over, his breakthroughs and inventions have had a lasting influence on modern society, and his legacy continues to inspire scientists and engineers.
